My daughter has had KLS for the last 4 years.  We were lucky that the school noticed her bizarre behaviour and referred her to a behaviour clinic who then referred her to a neurologist who had experience with KLS.  It has been a hard 4 years but I am hoping the episodes are over.

I’ve been training to be a homeopath for a few years and had tried to use homeopathy to help.  Often it would, but only to “push” the episode later rather then end it completely.  The two most useful remedies for my daughter were Conium Maculatum 30 ch and Cannibis Indica 200 ch.  The cannibis remedy is hard to get as the raw material is restricted.  For anyone who doesn’t understand homeopathy, the raw material is processed into a tincture and then is diluted over and over and shaken to extract the energy signature.  Thus even the cannibis remedy has no ability to make one high, and the conium one can’t poison you.

The breakthrough happened when I commented on my online study group and a homeopath in the US suggested using the sarcode (homeopathics made from healthy glandular tissue)  Hypothalmus.  Due to the Stanford studies we figured that regulating the hypothalmus might help.  These remedies are hard to get, I was able to purchase it from Aaronson’s Pharmacy in Vancouver.  We chose a 9ch which is regulatory to the hypothalmus.  This was 10 months ago and my daughter has been episode free.

Originally her episodes were one week of every month, they they stretched out to three months between episodes but the episodes would then be 3 weeks long.  Her longest being 22 days on my couch.  It may well be that she just outgrew it, but I’m hoping not.

If anyone wishes to try homeopathics, please visit a homeopath.  Unlike regular medicines the homeopath needs to do an assessment to decide which remedy is right and often there are cases where another remedy must be given first to allow the right remedy to work.  Otherwise, just trying it yourself may give good results or may do nothing.

I just wanted to share our good fortune with homeopathics.  I really think it is the best way for really complex disease.

Do you have an update on your use of homeopathic treatments?

As of today, my daughter has been episode free since we started the Hypothalamus treatment.  If she begins to get the feeling that an episode is coming on, she will take a dose at bedtime and the feeling will be gone by the next day.  She’d been having a hard time getting up for a few days and then when I was with her she became quite agitated.  Later when she went home I suggested she take Hypothalamus before bed as the agitation used to herald an episode. She woke the next morning early and refreshed with the fogginess gone.

I’m pretty sold on homeopathy.  I really wish it was better understood in North America.

Hi Theresa,
Can you please explain to me how to go about finding out about this? My husband has had KLS for 21 years and is now in an episode. His usually last for weeks if not months and he has been episode free for about two years before this episode. I am not a homeopath nor have any experience of one. Can you explain in laymans terms what you accessed for your daughter and how I might go about accessing this for my husband?
Thanks

The easiest way to find out about homeopathy is to find a homeopath in your area.  Many naturopaths also have homeopathy training.  I’ve been using homeopathy for my own ailments and have been training with the British Institute so it is through my connections there that I found a lasting cure for my daughter.  Your husband will need to work one-on-one with a homeopath to find the right remedy for him.

In laymans terms the remedies are “energy medicine” and work on the energy system of the body.  To access them, you purchase “sugar pills” that have been treated with a miniscule dilution of tinctures of specific items.  In my daughter’s case, we used remedies made from Cannibis Indica and Conium maculatum.  The dilution was so minute that there is no toxicity.  Ultimately, the complete cure came from a dilution of the hypothalamus of a cow.  I think we used a 9C dilution which means one drop of tincture to 100 drops of water repeated 9 times. This re regulated her body to work properly (balanced her hypothalamus).  Again, the best way is to use a homeopath who can better choose the right remedy based on your husband’s case.  KLS is complicated and needs a pro.  I didn’t come to the remedy choice by myself, another homeopath was able to look at my daughter’s symptom picture and ultimately prescribe the right remedy.

Hi I was wondering if you have made any progress on this with your Husband. I too have suffered for 20yrs + and I am currently in the dreamy phase of an episode right now. It is very difficult to cope with KLS when you are the main bread winner and a father (which is my case). My kids find it difficult to understand why Dad feels the way he does. I would love to hear from you or your husband to discuss how this has been for you over such a long period of suffering and to make some comparisons of living environments, normal eating habits etc if at all possible. Are you involved in any of the KLS discussion groups on Facebook?
Thanks
Steve
